Mohanthal (Gujarati Style)

Ingredient : 

  • Gram flour (thick) : 2 cup (250g)
  • Ghee : 1½ cup (200g)
  • Milk : 1 cup
  • Orange food color : ¼ tsp
  • Cardamom Powder : ¼ tsp
  • Cuddapah almond : 1 tsp
For Sugar Syrup
  • Sugar : 2½ cup (300g)
  • Water : 1½ cup
  • Saffron : ⅛ tsp
  • Cardamom powder : ½tsp
For Garnishing 
  • Almond and pistachio 

Method :

  • First of all, take gram flour in a big bowl.
  • Take milk and add ghee into it and mix well. Add this mixture little by little into gram flour. Mix well by rubbing with both the hand.
  • Next take a seive and put prepared mixture into it. Seive it well with the help of hand. Breaking big pieces by pressing with hands and seive it.
  • Heat the ghee in kadhai on a low flame and let it melt.
  • Add prepared mixture into it. Stir it continuously 10-15 minutes and cook on low flame until golden and aromatic.
  • Add milk and mix well all mixture. Keep aside and let it cool down.
  • Take a pan, add sugar and water. (as much sugar sink into water)
  • Let it melt on medium flame. 
  • Once it reaches two treads consistency, Add saffron, cardamom powder and orange color and mix well. Switch of the flame.
  • Add sugar syrup into Mohanthal mix little by little stir consistency till  the sugar syrups combine well with mixture of besan.
  • Transfer this mixture into greased plate and leveling the Mohanthal at proper height.
  • Garnish with cutting almond and pistachio.
  • Mohanthal is ready. You can store Mohanthal in the refrigerator for up to a month.



Tips :

  • You can store it into air tight container for a month. No need to store into fridge.
  • You can also add Mava(100-150g) in the mohanthal.
