Rava Dosa (South Indian Style)  :





Timing :

  • Total time :  90 minutes


Ingredient : 

  • Rava (semolina) : ½ cup
  • Rice flour : ½ cup
  • Maida : ¼ cup
  • Cooking oil : 3 tbsp
  • Onion (chopped) : 1 Medium (optional)
  • Green chili (chopped) : 1 pcs
  • Ginger (chopped) : 1 tsp
  • Curd : 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds : ½ cup
  • Coriander (chopped) : 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves : 4-5 pcs
  • Salt to taste
  • water as required


Method :


Preparation :
  • First take a big bowl, Add Rava (semolina), rice flour, maida, ginger, green chili and salt to taste. Mix them properly into smooth batter.
  • Now add onion, cumin seeds, coriander, curry leaves and curd.
  • keep adding water until the batter becomes to a runny consistency.
  • Taste the batter and more salt if needed.
  • Leave the batter 45 minutes.
  • it becomes little thick as the flours absorb water. So, add some water.
Making dosa :
  • Heat the oil in Non-stick tawa on medium heat. Stir the battle well before making each dosa.
  • Brush a little oil on the pain.
  • Now on medium high flame pour the batter from the edges and then at the centre.
  • do not try to fill the gaps on dosa. Leave it porous.
  • Cook on medium heat for about 2-3 minutes.




  • When dosa gets nice golden color from lower side and if you feel  
  • upper side is raw then pour 1 tsp oil across the edges and flip it over.
  • Cook from other side as well.
  • When the dosa becomes golden color and crispy both side, remove it to a serving plate.
  • Serve Rava dosa with Coconut chutney.



Tips :

  • Use raw rava only. No need to roast the rava.
  • Curd helps the rava dosa to get a golden color.
  • For each batch of making dosa stir the batter well before adding on the pan as rava settles down at the bottom.
  • As pan is hotter at the centre, start adding batter from the edges and finish at the center.
