History : 



Why are Cakes Round?
  • Although cakes can be baked in virtually any shape imaginable, there are several theories as to why most cakes are traditionally round in shape. Generally, the round cakes we enjoy today were made by hand and molded into round balls. While baking, the bread naturally relaxed into rounded shapes. Now, we often use hoops and pans to create the distinctive circular shape of a cake.


Timing :

  • Preparation Time : 20 minutes
  • Coocking Time : 45 minutes
  • Total Time : 65 minutes

Ingredients : 


  • Semolina : 1½ cup
  • Ghee : ½ cup
  • Curd : 1 cup
  • Sugar (powder) : 1 cup
  • Milk : 200-300 ml
  • Baking soda : ½ tsp
  • Cardamom powder : ½ tsp
  • Dry Fruit (almond, cashew, tutti frutti) : ½ cup
  • Raw salt (for baking) : 2-3 cup


Method : 

  • Start by preheating the cooker. Add Some Raw salt at the bottom of the cooker and for this place a stand inside the pressure cooker and put the lid on without the gasket and no whistle. Switch the gas onto high heat for 10-15 mins. Meanwhile start with your cake mixture.
  • firstly, in a bowl take melted Ghee, curd. whisk continuously, till the mixture turns silky smooth.
  • further add Semolina, sugar powder and cardamom powder.
  • Now add some milk and mix well.
  • Once mixed it up and keep it aside for the next 15- 20 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes the batter must have soaked all the liquid and is still and will be at a pouring consistency.
  • If your batter looks thick then just add 1- 2 tbsp of milk to it.furthermore, add dry fruits and mix well.
  • Grease the cake tin with ghee and dust it with flour. And put butter paper on the base. 
  • Sprinkal some tutti frutti on the base. Keep it aside.
  • And now pour our batter in the cake tin and tap it twice to remove any air bubbles.
  • Open the lid of cooker and carefully place the cake tin over the stand.
  • Bake for 40 minutes on low flame.
  • After 40 minutes and its time to insert the knife and check. if the knife comes out clean then cake is ready.
  • Let it come down completely, then run the knife around the corners of the cake tin.
  • And place a plate on top and flip the cake. Now place another plate and flip it again.
  • Keep the cake in the refrigerator for 2 hour.
  • Slice and enjoy the Home made semolina cake.





Tips :

  • Preheat the cooker on a medium flame for 5-10 minutes.
  • Bake the semolina cake on medium heat.
  • You can add any flavour essence for your choice
  • keep the prepared cake in the refrigerator for an hour before slicing it.
  • Further, add 3 tbsp coco powder to the mixture, if preparing chocolate semolina cake.
