Chana Dal Sabji

Ingredient :

  • Chana dal (soaked) : 2 cup
  • Onions (chopped) : 2 medium
  • Tomatoes (chopped) : 4 medium
  • Oil : 2 tbsp
  • Garlic cloves : 5-6
  • Ginger : 2 inch
  • Green chilies (chopped) : 2
  • Coriander powder : 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder : 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder : ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves (chopped) : 2 tbsp
  • Water (as needed)

Method :

  • First of all, In a blender make a puree of tomatos, garlic, ginger, green chilies and salt. Make puree out of it.
  • In a non-stick pressure cooker, heat some oil and add onions, saute till they turn golden brown.
  • Add the soaked chana dal, saute for 5 minutes. Add turmeric powder and salt to taste, saute till for another 4-5 minutes.
  • Add the prepared tomato puree and green chilies. Add some water, coriander powder, red chili powder and mix well.
  • Cover the pressure cooker and cook till 4-5 whistles.
  • Once the whistles are done, simmer the dal for 15 minutes. Add chopped coriander and mix well.
  • Chana Dal is ready. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve chana dal hot with roti or rice.



Tips : 
  • Roughly chop the ginger and garlic before adding in the blender.
  • Squeeze some lemon juice for more tanginess.
