Chorafali (Gujarati Style)

Ingredient :

  • Gram flour : 1 cup
  • Urad dal flour : ⅓ cup
  • Baking soda : ⅛ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water : ⅓ cup
  • Oil for fry
  • Rice flour for dusting
For Cholafali Masala 
  • Chili powder : 1 tsp
  • Black Salt : ½ tsp
  • Dry mango powder : ½ tsp

Method :

For masala
  • Mix chili powder, black salt and dry mango powder. Masala is ready.
For Cholafali 
  • First of all, in a large bowl mix gram flour, urad dal flour, salt to taste and baking soda and mix well.
  • Add some oil and using water knead a stiff dough.
  • Sprinkle some oil over the dough and make it smooth. Cover and allow it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  • Divide the dough of Cholafali into 2 equal portion.
  • Take a lemon size ball and using rice flour roll it thinner than chapati.
  • Cut it horizontal from centre and then cut long strip using a sharp knife.
  • Heat the oil for deep-frying and a few Cholafali strips in it a few at a time. Fry Cholafali light pink color. It takes about 1-2 min only.
  • Drain on absorbent paper.
  • Sprinkle the prepared Cholafali Masala on it immediately.
  • Cholafali is ready.
  • Serve Cholafali with Green Cholafali chautney.


Tips : 

  • You can heat the oil on a high to medium flame, but deep-fry only at a slow flame.
  • Store in airtight container for upto 7 days.
